The 12th Century Abbey is now Malmesbury's parish church.

See the tomb of the first king of England, Athelstan the Glorious and stand on the site where saints since the 7th century have said their prayers.

50,000 visitors come to the Abbey each year, to worship, to admire its architecture and marvel at its rich history. The Abbey owns a magnificent 15th century illuminated refectory bible in four volumes.

Abbey Cafe

Abbey Cafe, which is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 9am-4pm, Wednesday from 12-4pm and Saturday from 9am - 1pm.

Abbey Opening Times

The Abbey is open nearly 365 days a year – closing for a few days after Christmas and New Year's day and for occasional filming or maintenance.

Normal opening times are 10am – 5pm (changing to 4pm during the winter when the clocks are put back) but please get in touch usign the details below if you want to confirm specific days or times.
